Amber Jackson

Amber serves as Manzanita's Art teacher for all grades. She is also the Fiber Arts and Drawing Specialist Class instructor, is a Moxie Block Mentor, and teaches Advanced (AP) Art for High School. She brings a wealth of experience in Visual Arts education at private schools throughout Los Angeles area — a city she has proudly called home her entire life. At her previous school, Amber played a key role in after-school academic mentoring and art portfolio counselling, guiding students toward admission at a wide range of esteemed art colleges across the United States. Though she has taught many years in 6th through 12th grades, she also has a passion for teaching younger students, and has taught early elementary art as well. Beyond the classroom, Amber describes herself as a “fan of a lot of things”. Her creative passions extend to costume design, wig styling, prop fabrication, and makeup for her favorite comic, horror, and anime conventions. She also enjoys thrifting, making art, writing stories and screenplays, singing karaoke, and hanging out with her cat, Charles Mingus.

Educational Background: Amber earned her BA degree in Illustration from ArtCenter College of Design, with a focus on Illustration Design, Surface Design, and Screenwriting.
