Amber will serve as Manzanita's Art teacher for all grades. She is also the Fiber Arts and Drawing & Painting Specialist Class instructor, and is a Moxie Block Mentor for High School. Now in her eighth year of teaching, she brings a wealth of experience in Visual Arts education, including AP Studio Art for high schoolers, at private schools throughout Los Angeles area —a city she has proudly called home her entire life. At her previous school, Amber played a key role in after-school academic mentoring and art portfolio counseling, guiding students toward admission at a wide range of esteemed art colleges across the United States. Though she has taught many years in 6th through 12th grades, she also has a passion for teaching younger students, and has taught early elementary art as well. Beyond the classroom, Amber describes herself as a “fan of a lot of things.” Her creative passions extend to costume design, wig styling, prop fabrication, and makeup for her favorite comic, horror, and anime conventions. She also enjoys thrifting, making art, writing stories and screenplays, singing karaoke, and hanging out with her cat, Charles Mingus.
Educational Background: Amber earned her BA degree in Illustration from ArtCenter College of Design, with a focus on Illustration Design, Surface Design, and Screenwriting.
