Brooke acts as the 3rd grade teacher at Manzanita. She sees art as integral to all subjects and enjoys guiding students through the flow state with hands-on projects that awaken their creativity and senses to study the world. From 2017 to 2021, Brooke worked at Corpus Christi School as an early elementary teacher in grades K, 1, and 3. In the summer of 2019, she spent several weeks in New Zealand observing how the indigenous culture learns in indoor and outdoor environments. Brooke finds the playful nature, being outside all day among the chaparral plants and animals, connecting and creating with the other mentors, and collectively holding a space where children are free to be themselves to be particularly meaningful in her work. Outside of school hours, she is an avid traveler who likes to spend her time between the coast and the mountains, creating poetry, painting, chasing experiences that provoke aliveness, and making new friends worldwide.
Educational Background: Brooke holds a Master's Degree in Urban Education with a concentration in Administration and Policy, a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology, and a Preliminary Multiple Subjects K-8 Teaching Credential.
