Dave grew up in a remote, rural area of New Zealand. With his grandfather he would disappear regularly into the rainforest that abutted the family farm, learning about nature from both scientific and indigenous points of view. Early in life he learned about the power of nature and the thrill of adventurous exploring. Dave spent 20+ years guiding clients from around the world on remote wilderness adventures in New Zealand. He also instructed at Outward Bound New Zealand, helping people of all ages and walks of life connect with nature, themselves and each other. He has tertiary qualifications in education, science, agriculture, outdoor instructing and wilderness medicine.  Dave moved to Southern California over 10 years ago and continues to be inspired by spending quality time in nature with others. Working with the Manzanita community has been, and continues to be a wonderful journey of shared values and vision.
