EJ, also known as Chevy J, has been nurturing, teaching, and sharing her gifts and wisdom with Manzanita from the beginning. She co-developed the 2nd grade programming from its inception, acts as the Naturalist for 3rd grade, is a mentor for the Stewardship program for 2nd-12th grades, acts as a co-leader for the Ancestral Hearth gathering, co-founded the farm and compost programs, implemented the healthy lunch program, and taught culinary arts across grades. She acted as the school chef for the first two years, bringing her 20+ years of culinary experience to Manzanita. EJ has attended dozens of primitive skills gatherings, and brings her passion and gifts for ancestral skills to our students, meaningfully fostering love for the natural world in students. Outside of school hours, EJ is passionate about spending time in nature and getting lost in a good book.
