Zohemy (Zohe) acts in a supporting role for Manzanita to develop and implement curriculum while she conducts institutional research to enhance educational practices. Her background spans scientific research, educational theory, and counseling skills, enriching her contributions to curriculum design, data-informed educational strategies, and student support. Working at Manzanita is profoundly meaningful to Zohe as it allows her to fulfill her vision of education as a journey that respects each child’s unique place in the natural world. Manzanita’s commitment to blending academic exploration with environmental engagement resonates deeply with her belief that learning is a holistic experience—one that nurtures intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. Being part of a community that values knowledge, empathy, resilience, and stewardship for our planet feels like a natural extension of who she is. One of her favorite moments on campus is seeing students fully immersed in the natural environment during their outdoor exploration, asking questions, and making connections between their lessons and the world around them. For her, it’s a joy to witness their sense of wonder and see how they feel a genuine connection to their surroundings. Her heart is filled with a community woven together by a shared commitment to nurturing each child’s potential and encouraging a meaningful relationship with nature and culture. This environment, rooted in respect and curiosity, makes every day here inspiring and purposeful. Outside of school hours, Zohe is drawn to nature, creativity, continual personal growth, and finding joy and meaning in nurturing connections—with nature, loved ones, and her beloved cat, Tara, who she considers to be a daughter. She’s passionate about learning and exploring different ways of seeing the world, from reading about holistic approaches to education to studying ancestral wisdom and cultural heritage and discovering insights that deepen her understanding of the world and her place in it.

Educational Background: Zohe has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical and Biological Chemistry from Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, a M.S. in Medical Genetics from the University of Glasgow, a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Skills from the University of Strathclyde, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) from the University of Nottingham.
